About the Recipe

I’m on a journey to embrace a healthier lifestyle, with a special focus on supporting my digestive health. After a lot of research, I decided to make this simple, powerful shot part of my daily routine. To keep things sustainable, I invested in a 1.5 oz shot glass, which is the perfect size for my morning dose. I take it first thing on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before my meals. It’s a small change with a big impact, and I’m excited to share it with you!

Ingredients

  • 3 large pieces of ginger

  • 2 cups fresh turmeric (or 2 tablespoons ground turmeric)

  • 3 oranges, juiced

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice

  • 1/4 cup honey (adjust to taste)

  • A dash of paprika

  • A dash of black pepper

Preparation

Equipment Needed:

  • Knife and cutting board

  • Blender

  • Measuring spoons

  • Cheesecloth (or a new pair of stockings for straining)

  • Freezer-safe bag/container (for the orange peel)

  • Container or jar for storing the strained mixture

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Ingredients:

    • Thoroughly wash the ginger and turmeric. Peel the orange, saving the peel in a freezer-safe bag or container for later use in other recipes.

    • Cut the ginger and turmeric into small pieces. Be cautious as turmeric can stain, so use a cutting board if you want to protect your countertops.

    • Peel the orange and cut it into 1/8 pieces.

  2. Blend the Ingredients:

    • Add the ginger, turmeric, and orange to the blender.

    • Add lemon juice, honey, paprika, and black pepper.

    • Fill the blender halfway with water, just covering the ingredients. Blend until smooth.

    • If the mixture isn't smooth enough, add more water. The ideal consistency is a liquid that’s slightly thicker than juice but not too watery, like a smoothie. Be mindful that adding more water can dilute the potency of the blend.

  3. Strain the Mixture:

    • Strain the blended mixture into a separate container using a cheesecloth or a similar fine mesh strainer.

    • For a clean strain, I used a new pair of stockings I picked up at the supermarket, and it worked perfectly to get a smooth liquid!

  4. Store and Use:

    • Store the strained liquid in a clean bottle or jar. You can refrigerate it for future use or consume it right away for its potent benefits.
